Rock climbing

Koh Yao‘s rock-faces are fast becoming Thailands next vertical playground. In the high season, when Railay and Tonsai are inundated with thousands of climbers, the best rock-climbing destination in Thailand Island is now Koh Yao Noi, with over a hundred routes of varied grades, face climbs, multi pitch climbing, stalactites and three dimensional puzzles. All in pristine condition and some offering amazing views from the top of semi-deserted crags. There is also a good selection of beginner routes on Koh Yao Noi. Many crags in the KoYao Noi area are only accessible by boat, ensuring your climb is well away from any crowds. From Koh Yao Noi you can climb areas not listed in any guidebooks, and on unknown islands off the traditional Thailand tourist Island route. The climbs are alleged to offer routes of world class quality for both beginners and expert climbers.

The Mountain Shop offers half day, full day or multi-day rock climbing instruction and private guided trips. For half day trips, you can choose whether you would like to do a morning or afternoon course. Your rock climbing adventure will be designed to meet your individual needs. If you have never climbed before, we offer an introductory course that provides instruction and safety briefings before heading out to climb our beginner routes. For the more experienced climber, our guides have exclusive access to climbs on Koh Yao Noi and neighboring islands. Most of our climbs require a short boat ride to access the cliffs or a short dive by motorbike. If you do not need a guide, The Mountain Shop provides transportation to and from the climbing area.

Mountain shop and Sea Gypsy in Ta Kaow village has great food and guide books as well! These guys are making it easy and safer to climb on some of the most pristine quality limestone in the world. This is the spot to meet partners, organize boat and bike transportation, and get all the gear and information you could want.
